A family business with over 35 years’ experience of supplying hotels, restaurants, schools and gastropubs, we’re proud of the goods we supply, the service we offer and the local jobs we support. We look forward to working with you to meet your business needs.

About

Timeline

1988
Established by Francis Barrett as a retail outlet for fresh fruit and vegetables based at Tamar View Nurseries in Carkeel, Saltash. With 30 years experience of wholesale in this sector and farming in the family moving back three generations.
1991
Tamar View Fruiterers quickly gained a good reputation for product quality and the business grew. Second-generation David joined the business followed by brothers Ian in 1992, and Nigel in 2000. FW Barrett & Sons was complete.
2003
The family separated retail and wholesale as both had grown significantly. The retail side of the business remained at Carkeel and Wholesale arm moved into temporary warehouse space.
2007
Moved into purpose-built facility 'Barrett House' at Marjorie Court, Saltash.
2011
Wholesale part of the business given own identity... Tamar Fresh!
2013
Addition of sandwhich and salad manufacturing facility
2015
Prepared vegetable facility added following investment in additional warehouse(our next-door neighbour at Marjorie Court)
2019
Francis Barrett retired fully in 2019 but is kept informed of business developments.

  • Refrigerated vehicle fleet ensuring the product reaches you in chill chain as fresh as possible, where required
